The last SUNDAY of each month, we hold a church service… church is not a building but a group of people who gather together to celebrate what Jesus has done in our lives and is continuing to do in our lives.
Church is community and community is church… the words are interchangeable. Jesus said that when: “…two or three are gathered together in my name, there I will be in the middle.” (Matthew 18, v21)
We share our lives together in the Storehouse and we offer to Jesus, all of our ‘stuff.’ Some of it is too big for us to handle by ourselves… just this week, a young mum, heavily pregnant, had the bailiff at her door, demanding goods equal to her council tax bill. They removing everything from her home that she had just received at Christmas as gifts… no words can express how distraught she was or how helpless we felt.
All we can do is pray that God’s justice be done… offer a cup-of-tea and a reassuring hug, food from the storeroom, clothes from the charity shop and some gifts left over from Christmas… All we can often do is offer to God, where we are right now in our emotions and in our spirit. We believe that he hears the cry of our heart and is quick to offer us his counsel, if we are willing to listen. Hence meeting together, once a month, to sing about God at work in our lives and share the truth of the Gospel story and the effect it has on our lives…
